The canned beer family at Resurgence Brewing Company is set to grow by three as a trio of can releases will take place on June 21 – Loganberry Wit, one of their most beloved beers and one of their first ever offerings, Peter B. Porter, an annual favorite, and Conehead IPA, a new hazy IPA dedicated to a true Buffalo institution.
It’s been a longtime coming for Loganberry Wit, which was a true launch beer for the brewery when they opened back in 2014, and continues to be a favorite of customers to this day. This beer was brewed in a traditional wit style with some mild banana and light fruit esters with a subtle loganberry finish. Resurgence’s President Jeff Ware says that while he doesn’t consider Loganberry Wit a true flagship, it was always destined to be canned due to its loyal fanbase.
“Loganberry really is not a flagship beer for us, although it does have a strong fan base,” he says. “Like all off our packaged beers, the decision was made due to customer requests. It is a really easy drinking “gateway beer” with a Buffalo twist. I think they are going to go quick!”
Ware says the same goes for popular season Peter B. Porter, a peanut butter porter featuring balanced doses of chocolate, cocoa and toasted peanut butter.
“We are giving the people what they are asking for. This beer has a strong cult following. We had customers buying crowlers of it by the case. We decided to make it a little easier on them and put some package beer together. This one will be tap room only and very limited!”
Conehead IPA is a Mosaic hopped IPA that clocks in at 5.5%; it’s hazy, juicy and crushable with a subtle hop kick. As you might have figured out by the name, Conehead was made in conjunction with the Buffalo Bisons for the man himself, Buffalo’s favorite beer-slinging institution, Conehead, aka Tom Girot, who, as you would expect, is a big craft beer fan.
“Conehead IPA made with the Bisons and to Conehead’s preferences (he is a big craft beer fan),” Ware says. “We have a great partnership with the Bisons and this is just another example of that. Craft beer and baseball. What could be better?”
Loganberry Wit cans will sell for $10, Peanut Butter Porter for $11 and $12 for Conehead IPA (prices subject to change). All three releases will be 4 pack 16oz. cans. All beers will be available on draft as well.
