Veteran Brewer Plans to Open Sentient Brewing

Matt Redpath, whose brewing resume includes Gordon Biersch, Woodcock Brothers and Wandering Gypsy Brewing, has filed plans to open Sentient Brewing at 38 Tremont Place. Redpath will open the site along with his wife Kaitlin. In addition to craft beers brewed on site, Sentient plans to offer a simple food menu served from a stationary food truck. The family-friendly space will feature a brewpub built into a 1,600 sq. ft. shed on the property, while the surrounding storage yard will be converted into a beer garden with outdoor tables. A public hearing for the new project is planned Oct. 25.

Marquee Brewing to Bring Craft Hard Seltzers to WNY

A second hard seltzer company is coming to Western New York later this fall as Marquee Brewing plans to open at 12 St. Main St., just outside of Olean. Marquee will be inside a 3,200 sq. ft. leased property that previously housed an antique shop. According to owner Cory Clark, craft drinkers can expect a menu that includes hard sodas, hard seltzers and hard teas, as well as fresh non-alcoholic soda. There will also be food. Plans call for adding a pavilion out back in the spring.

Lafayette Brewing, Pressure Drop to Release New Collab

You can never have enough local lagers. Lafayette Brewing and Pressure Drop Brewing have teamed up on a new crispy, Bavarian Takeout, a dry hopped lager with all-German hops, including Hallertau Blanc and Solera. Bavarian Takeout will be available on tap at both Lafayette and Pressure Drop on October 19. Additionally, Lafayette has their first ever beer in cans, Playground Pilsner, a Czech-style pilsner brewed with hibiscus and lemon peel. Cans are available at the taproom right now. Be on the lookout for Sabre’s Edge Double IPA and Lord Stanley Scotch Ale in cans this week as well.

Thin Man, WGR 550’s Jeremy White Team Up for Special Beer

After teaming with WGR’s Nate Geary, Thin Man is now working with fellow radio personality Jeremy White on Fall Is Elite, a West Coast IPA brewed with Strata, Mosaic, Simcoe and Chinook hops for notes of pine, tangerine and toasted malt. The beer will be released October 14. On October 16, Thin Man will hold a release party at Elmwood, which will feature a 26 Shirts pop-up (1pm), with a portion of proceeds benefitting Western New York Prenatal Bereavement Network, the Bills – Chiefs game (4:25pm) and a halftime raffle curated by White with all proceeds going to WNYPBN.

Eli Fish to Hold First Ever New York Wet Hop Beer Festival

On October 15, Eli Fish Brewing is bring more than 15 of the best breweries and fresh hopped ales in the state to Batavia for the first ever New York Wet Hop Beer Festival. Breweries include Eli Fish, 1927 Brewhouse, Nine Maidens, Beer Tree, TIL Brewing, Wagner Valley, Swiftwater, Three Heads, Noble Shepherd, Strong Rope, Greenpoint, Endless Life, Threes, KCBC, Port Jeff, Good Nature, and more. Pre-sale tickets include glass and tickets for 8 – 8oz pours at a $10 discount. You can purchase tickets here. Tickets and unsold glasses will be available at the door.

Resurgence Brewing Kegs & Eggs: KC BBQ Edition

Before the Bills takes on the Kansas City Chiefs, head down to Resurgence for their Kegs & Eggs: KC BBQ Edition on October 16 (11am). Flight #1 features Getting Diggy Wit It (Rauchbier with smoked pineapple), Car Bombs and Table Smashing (Sponge Candy Stout with Irish Crème), Sent MaHOME Again (Mud Pie Sour (chocolate and raspberries)) and Allen Wrench (Oktoberfest with Heath bits) and Flight #2 features Singletary, Double Threat (IPA with 2 new hops), Bills Collectors (Blonde Ale w/ brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon), Von Down By The River (Peanut Butter, Banana and Grape Porter) and Popping Corks (Dry Lager (Champagne-like beer aged in white wine barrels)). There will also be two casks – Knox Exactly (Bridge Pilsner w/ gummies (Gummy Worm Pils)) and Wide Right Revenge Year (fruited McKinley’s Revenge).

Brickyard Brewing to Drop Pink Bronco for Charity

Brickyard’s flagship hazy IPA White Bronco has gone pink for charity. The brewery will release Pink Bronco, White Bronco conditioned on Ruby Red Grapefruit, on October 15 (2pm) with all proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. 16oz. 4-pack cans will cost $20. For the release, Boss Braids will be doing braids with the option of pink feed in hair and sparkles, BB’s Bonded Jewelry Bar will be offering permanent jewelry and both will donate a portion of proceeds to the Susan G. Komen fund. Zak Ward will provide live music at 6:30pm.
