Beer and golf go hand in hand, just like local craft beer and charity.

The WNY Brewers Guild Charity Golf Tournament offers golfers and beer enthusiasts an opportunity to play a round with local brewers and features local food and beverages, beer sampling, hole challenges, and raffles.

  • The WNY Brewers Guild Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, August 29 at Chestnut Hill Country Club.
  • Hole challenges (including Longest Drive) and raffles will raise money for local charities such as Habitat for Humanity, ASPCA, Feedmore WNY, and Oishei Children’s Hospital
  • Local food vendors and craft beer samplings will be available throughout the day

The WNY Brewers Guild has announced a new event for the region’s golf lovers and craft beer enthusiasts. The inaugural “WNY Brewers Guild Charity Golf Tournament” will be held at Chestnut Hill Country Club on Monday, August 29.

“The WNY craft beer (and beverage) industry is flush with individuals and teams of people who work tirelessly to bring joy and charity to tens of thousands of people across WNY,” Jason Havens, president of Rusty Nickel Brewing and the WNY Brewers Guild, said. “The hands-on side of the industry is an oftentimes thankless role. One that is seldom seen by the public and almost always overlooked with respect to the dedication, passion, effort, long hours and scientific knowledge these individuals dedicate to each and every product. One goal of this golf outing is to bring the public and a brewer together to play a round; allowing people a chance to interact with a brewer in a way that the brewer can enjoy a day out in our beautiful summer while their team members have a chance to learn all things craft. The second goal of the tournament is to be charitable. Members of WNY’s craft industry are incredibly charitable and this tournament will promote that further. Proceeds from this outing will be dedicated to local charities that have touched countless lives throughout the region, the state and beyond!”

The tournament offers community members a unique opportunity to meet area brewers, sample beers, and raise money for local charities while enjoying a round of golf. Hole challenges, including Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin, along with basket raffles will raise money for local charities such as Habitat for Humanity, ASPCA, and Feedmore WNY. Food and beverage sampling will be offered on the course by regional vendors.

“So grab your clubs, a few friends and join us on the course! Cheers!” Havens adds.

Golfers can register as an individual or with teammates online at www.WNYBrewersGuild.com. The cost to participate is $120 per person and includes golf, breakfast, lunch, and a steak dinner, as well as food and drinks on the course. There are 144 slots available for golfers. The four person scramble tournament will start at 10:00 AM with a shotgun start.

The WNY Brewers Guild is made up of members from over thirty craft breweries who call Western New York home. The non-profit’s mission is to represent, promote, and protect its members and to further educate and inform the public about the New York state craft brewing industry and its vital role in Western New York as an economic engine which promotes agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism.
