Quad Holiday Beer Release at Mortalis Brewing
Mortalis Brewing are dropping four new beers in time for Independence Day celebrations this week. Those releases are Gemini: Bomb Pop Sour, which features raspberry, sweet cherry, lime, and blue raspberry (16oz. 4-pack cans), Red + White + Blue Sour, a virtual collaboration with Arkane Aleworks in Florida, featuring raspberry, blueberry, Madagascar vanilla, and America mix Skittles. (16oz. 4-pack cans), OldManBearMa: Nelson Double IPA, brewed with Citra, Simcoe, and Freestyle Nelson hops (16oz. 4-pack cans) and Yakima Blend DIPA, brewed with hand selected lots of Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. (16oz. 4-pack cans). Mortalis Buffalo will be open July 3 (4-11pm), July 512-11pm), July 6 (11am – 11pm) and July 7 (11am – 6pm). These are beers are available now.
Beer Kind Brewing to Officially Open July 5
Beer Kind Brewing, located at 2765 Kenmore Ave. in the Town of Tonawanda, will officially open their doors to the public on July 5 at 4pm. The brewery features onsite parking with overflow parking across the street, plenty of seating, a dog friendly patio, entertainment nook complete with a couch, television and games, and a central self-pour tapwall, which features a handful of Beer Kind’s own beers, including American Beam American Ale, Naked Pig Brown Ale, Smile Be Hoppy American IPA, Your Brain on Hops Hazy IPA and Patrick, the Pal Pale Ale. Beer Kind also offers canned cocktails and non-alcoholic options. Husband and wife owners Alex and Jen Buckley will be on hand for the opening. They will also be open on July 6 (12-11pm) and Sunday (12-6pm).
Buffalo Cider Hall Closes Its Doors on Chandler Street
The Buffalo Cider Hall, located across from the former Thin Man Brewery on Chandler St., has closed. The closure was announced via social media. “This weekend will be the last weekend The Buffalo Cider Hall will be open to the public. This isn’t goodbye! We will be continuing our focus at the Lake Ontario tasting room location [at] Donovan Orchards Estate Ciders. We have truly enjoyed serving Buffalo for the last six years. We appreciate every private party, wedding, dog event, yoga, craft night and so on! This place has been very special to many!” The location was operated by Blackbird Cider Works and separate from Resurgence Brewing.

Voting Period for Best of 716 Opens
Voting is open for The Buffalo News’ Best of 716 and there are plenty of beer-related categories to vote in. Brewed And Bottled Craft Beer Shop, New York Beer Project, Hamburg Brewing, Fattey Beer Co and The Griffon Gastropub are nominated for Best Beer List, New York Beer Project, Brickyard Brewing, Britesmith Brewing, Wayland Brewing and Big Ditch Brewing are up for Best Brewery and Consumers Beverages, Fattey Beer, Brewed & Bottled, Aurora Brew Works and Premier Gourmet are nominated for Best Beer Stores. Elsewhere, Buffalo RiverWorks is nominated for Best Live Music Venue, Gene McCarthy’s is up for Best Irish Bar and Hofbrauhaus Buffalo is nominated for Best German Restaurant.
