Big Ditch Brewing to Release Imperial Hayburner IPA

Big Ditch is looking to set you up right for the weekend with a Friday release of Afterburner, a 9.0% version of their beloved flagship hazy IPA Hayburner. This imperial IPA features big orange flavors and aromas, with Hayburner’s familiar bitter edge, alcohol bite, and drinkability. Afterburner will be available on draft and in 16oz. 4-packs on June 28. It will be available for pickup at the taproom and online (the brewery is currently shipping to New York and Pennsylvania only) with limited distribution beginning next week.

 

Magic Bear Beer Cellar, 42 North Brewing Team Up Again

The partnership between Magic Bear Beer Cellar and 42 North Brewing continues for a third year with the release of BEARy Cherry Fruited Sour on June 28 (5-7pm). The beer features a blend of raspberry and blackberry from the first year of their collaboration series and sweet cherry from the second year. The beer will be released at Magic Bear, alongside a number of other 42 North beers, which will also be available for the release.

Buffalo Brewing to Release Simon Pure at Wm. Simon Brewery

Buffalo Brewing Company will release their resurrected Simon Pure Beer at the old Wm. Simon Brewery, located at the corner of Clinton and Emslie. Bill Simon will be on hand for the release serving free hot dogs and talking all things Simon Pure. Buffalo Brewing’s take on the historical brew is light and easy drinking with notes of sweet malt and toasted bread with a slightly dry finish. The beer will be available in 12oz. 6-pack cans and cases. In 1900, Simon’s great-grandfather bought the brewery, then known as the Schusler Brewery, and changed its name to William Simon. Simon produced Simon Pure and Old Abbey Ale until the brewery closed in 1972.

Resurgence Brewing 10th Anniversary Party

Resurgence Brewing is marking a decade in the local craft beer scene with a big blowout on June 29 (12pm). The all-day extravaganza will feature food from Hayes Seafood and a Britesmith pig roast, re-release of throwback Resurgence beers, Anniversary IPA release (notes of soft and ripe tropical fruits, sweet citrus, white grape, pineapple, melon, and mango), merch deals, raffles and giveaways, live music from Tim Britt, DJ Dimarco and XOXO Band, mechanical chicken wing, 360 photo booth, retro beer pricing, and more. Erie County Fair Home Brew, Cider Winners Announced

The Home Brew and Hard Cider Best of Show winners of the Erie County Fair Home Brew and Cider competitions have been selected. The Best in Show Cider is “Grandstand Peach,” created by Tim Hull of Tonawanda. This sweet and refreshing cider will pair best with salty fair foods. It will be produced by Blackbird Cider Works. You can try it on July 11 at Resurgence Brewing (6pm). The Best in Show Beer is “Tilt-a-Weizen,” brewed by Adam Millar of Hamburg. This classic Hefeweizen features natural yeast-driven flavors of banana and clove. It will be brewed and released by Hamburg Brewing. A keg-tapping event will take place July 18 at Hamburg Brewing (6pm).

Platter’s Chocolate, Ellicottville Brewing Team Up on Dessert Ale

Platter’s Chocolate Factory and Ellicottville Brewing Company have teamed up for a seventh time on Pineapple Orange Whip Dessert Ale. Pineapple Orange Whip features tropical pineapple, fresh orange purée, and subtle waves of creamy vanilla, along with white wheat and flaked oats. It is inspired by Platter’s Cafe’s signature summer whipped frozen dessert. Pineapple Orange Whip is available in 16oz. 4-pack cans at the brewery and wherever great craft beer is sold. EBC and Platter’s Chocolate Factory first released Orange Chocolate Blonde Ale in 2019.
