Big Ditch and Explore Buffalo have paired up to make a refreshing summer beer to celebrate Explore Buffalo’s tenth anniversary tour season.

The History Buff is a German-style Kolsch that celebrates Buffalo’s vast brewing history, as there was once a time when over 30 breweries existed within the city alone—many of them brewing authentic German-style beers. This lager/ale hybrid is slightly fruity, slightly bready, and completely refreshing on a warm day.

A portion of all proceeds from the sale of History Buff will be donated to Explore Buffalo.

Explore Buffalo says they can’t guarantee this beer will make you smarter, but an Explore Buffalo tour just might! Explore Buffalo offers downtown walking tours that start just a few blocks from Big Ditch, making a walking tour and a pint of History Buff the perfect summer pairing. Also, for a limited time starting June 14 and continuing every
other Wednesday during the summer, you can join Explore Buffalo on their new Big Ditch Brewery tour to learn everything and anything on crafting the perfect beer. This one hour brewery experience will include a 45 minute tour of the facility as well as a pint of Big Ditch beer.

The tour starts by learning how Big Ditch’s name is connected to the Erie Canal and is inspired by the history of Buffalo. Then, tourists are able to step behind the scenes of the Innovation Brewery and learn the craft of beer, starting from how beer is made to the process of coming up with new and exciting flavors.

Explore Buffalo is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the city’s friendliest, most comprehensive, and best informed tours from the hidden gems of Buffalo’s neighborhoods to iconic downtown landmarks. Big Ditch, located in downtown Buffalo, is dedicated to “providing quality, delicious, innovative, and drinkable craft beers to
Western New York and beyond” since its first launch in October of 2014.
