Community Beer Works joined the autumnal trend and announced their newest limited edition brew, Pumpkin Spice Whale. The seasonal beer is the latest variation of the brewery’s award-winning Whale brown ale. Pumpkin Spice Whale is available on tap and in 6-pack cans at CBW’s flagship taproom. Retailers across Western New York will have the brew on sale shortly after the release.
“Pumpkin spice dominates the palate of fall flavors, whether in beloved coffee drinks or other seasonal offerings. We wanted to have a little fun with the flavor profile and create a beer that latched onto the hype,” said Community Beer Works Co-Founder Chris Smith. “Fall might be a few weeks away, but you can get an early taste of it here at Community Beer Works. Cheers!”
Pumpkin Spice Whale brings a seasonal approach to CBW’s existing Whale brown ale. It is brewed with a custom blend of pumpkin pie spice — including cinnamon, ginger, allspice and nutmeg — layered with distinct English malts and hops. The finished beer brings all the fall flavors alongside flavors of coffee and chocolate.
“Our Pumpkin Spice Whale is an enjoyable brew that is the perfect way to kickstart the Autumn season,” said Community Beer Works Head Brewer Robert Turley. “Whether you’re looking for a great beer to enjoy during a football game or the perfect pairing for a fall dinner, this ale is perfect for anything you have planned.”
The Whale is one of CBW’s year-round, award-winning beers. In 2017, the brew was awarded the TAP NY Governor’s Cup™ award for being the best-tasting beer. Later in 2020, CBW began growing The Whale as a full line of variants. The first of this expansion was with the Pod of Whales, which included the Choco Cherry Whale, Choco Taco Whale, Mocha Whale and Canadian Breakfast Whale. Since then, several other iterations have been released, including the Sponge Candy Whale.
