Clarksburg Cider to Throw 2nd Annual Cider Fest
Clarksburg Cider is hosting their second annual Cider Fest, an afternoon of cider, spirit, beer and mead tasting, live music, and food, on May 13 (2-6pm). The event will play host to cider, spirits, mead, and beers from BlackBird Cider, Blue Barn, Cider Creek, Embark, Rootstock, Steampunk, Tree Hugger, 42 North Brewing, Woodcock Brothers, Black Button Distilling, Illumination Meadery, Lilly Belle Meads and Lockhouse Distillery. General admission tickets are $50 (unlimited tasting (2-6p), silicone tulip glass) and VIP are $75 (production tour, Q&A and exclusive tasting session with cider makers, charcuterie, unlimited drink pours, silicone tulip glass, VIP lanyard, barrel tasting). Mosaic Screamer Returns to Pressure Drop This Weekend
This weekend, Pressure Drop Brewing will bring back Mosaic Screamer, a Mosaic hopped variant of their Citra Screamer Cream Ale. The Mosaic version is as crushable as its Citra counterpart; a light-bodied, crisp and clean hopped cream ale with notes of overripe grapefruit, a touch of dank and low bittering. The beer will be released on draft at Pressure Drop’s taproom and in 16oz. 4-pack cans to go on May 13.
Wayland Brewing Company Opens in Orchard Park
Wayland Brewing, a new campus-style brewery located in Orchard Park at 3740 N. Buffalo Street, is now open. The brewery, a new partnership between The Grange Kitchen in Hamburg and West Rose in Ellicottville, features a taproom, event hall, beer garden complete with bocce court and beer/merchandise shop, along with a full menu of elevated Mexican and American dishes, including tacos, nachos, chicken nuggets and more, all scratch made in house. There’s a huge amount of bar, table and lounge seating both inside and out and Wayland offers beer, cider, seltzer, wine and cocktails. Most of their launch beers have been canned and can be purchased in 12oz. 6-pack cans to go.
Buffalo Olde Brewery Opens in Lovejoy
Housed in the former Olde Theater Building and HopfStar Theater originally built in 1890, Buffalo Olde Brewery is Buffalo’s newest brewery, located at 1221 E. Lovejoy St. On tap, they currently offer Lovejoy Lager, a Helles lager, Iron Island IPA, a West Coast IPA, Duchesse de Amherst, a raspberry sour ale, Derg’s Dark, an oatmeal stout, Coping Strategy, a Belgian Triple, and more. In addition to craft beer, they also offer food, wine and cocktails. Their patio will officially open on June 1. Buffalo Olde Brewery is closed on Tuesdays, and open Monday/Wednesday (4pm-10pm), Thursday-Saturday (11a-11pm) and Sunday (11a-9pm).
Buffalo Brewing Company Owner Wins Preservation Award
Buffalo Brewing Company owner John Domres has won the 2023 Emerging Preservationist Award from Preservation Buffalo Niagara for his work to preserve and renovate the former Schreiber Brewery building. “In 2021 he started working on rehabbing the long-vacant building, and in October of 2022, he brewed the first beer on the site in 72 years,” PBN said. “With only the first phase of the rehabilitation completed, and more projects on the horizon, we raise a glass to his work in preservation and revitalization on Buffalo’s East Side.” The 2023 Preservation Award Ceremony will be held May 18 at the Dnipro Ukrainian Cultural Center. Resurgence Brewing, SPoT Coffee Team Up on New Beer
Resurgence Brewing and SPoT Coffee have collaborated on Resurgence SPoT Hefeweizen, which will be available in cans at Resurgence and other participating retailers, as well as on tap at select bars. SPoT Coffee will debut the beer with a specially licensed one-day sale scheduled for its Elmwood Village location on May 12. The beer is a classic Hefeweizen brewed with SPoT Coffee, and features a light and refreshing profile, perfect for sipping on a hot day or hanging out with friends.
Big Ditch Brewing 8th Anniversary Party
Big Ditch is turning 8 and is celebrating on May 18 (5pm) with beer, food and cocktail specials, live music, prizes, giveaways and more. Along with their regular draft list, there will be 4 anniversary beers on tap, including 8th Anniversary French Toast Imperial Stout (10% ABV), Strawberry Vision Sour Fruit Beer, Basically Juice Double IPA (9% ABV), Salted Watermelon Cucumber Seltzer and Double Dry Hopped Little Waves Lager (Nelson Sauvin hops). There will be free limited edition t-shirts for the first 75 guests, raffles (one entry with every beer) and live music from JJ Moscato. The event is free and open to the public.
