In an effort to help you better plan your drinking itinerary for the fast approaching Buffalo Brewers Festival, we will be featuring select beers in our Tap Spotlight series leading up to the marquee summer event. Because, let’s face it, there’s going to be a more than a few beers on tap, so we want to make sure you know what ones to target early.
One of the three beers Flying Bison Brewing Company will be pouring at the festival (along with Lemondrop Lager and Low Gear Session IPA) is their brand new farm-to-pint beer, made with 100% New York State sourced ingredients, Newport Pleasureale IPA (5%). This American IPA is brewed with pale malt & red wheat from Batavia’s NY Craft Malt and East Prairie Hop Farm’s Newport hops.
“Almost each member of the brewery staff has found different descriptors for this beer: pine, cantaloupe, strawberry, lemon, melon, cut grass, store-bought birthday cake with frosting, and even onion in the aroma…just to name a few,” Flying Bison says of Newport Pleasureale. “The hop flavors are very complex and have definitely sparked some interesting conversations. It was especially fun to discover flavors we never knew could come out of this variety. The cantaloupe flavors combined very well with Ted Hawley’s red wheat from Batavia.”
