As we embark on the final day of the ninth annual Buffalo Beer Week, we, the Buffalo Niagara Brewers Association, are nothing but thankful and truly humbled for the support we as a beer scene have received over these past ten days. Buffalo Beer Week, hell, the entire Buffalo-Niagara beer scene, would be nothing if not for you. We owe each and every one of you a hearty handshake and perhaps a bro-hug. Or maybe just a beer. We cannot thank you enough for buying a local pint, hitting a brewery or attending an event this Beer Week. YOU helped make this Beer Week as big and as successful as it was.

Quite honestly, it’s because of you that this year’s Opening Gala at Flying Bison was the biggest it’s ever been, it was because of you that the Ballpark Brewbash was again a true marquee event on the beer calendar and it was because of you that the Borderland Music and Arts Fest was an instant classic. Frankly, none of this is possible without you. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule and hard earned money out of your wallet to order a pint of local craft beer and walk into a local brewery or corner bar and ask for something local. It’s because of all of you that Buffalo Beer Week exists and gets bigger and better year after year. We think a round of applause for all of you is in order, or at least another round of beers.

So this is it Buffalo, this is your last chance to dance, at least in terms of Buffalo Beer Week. Take a look at what’s on tap for today, then go out and raise a pint to the end of yet another Buffalo Beer Week. We’ll see you all next year.

Buffalo Beer Week ends with the Happy Ending Taproom Brunches, taking place at Thin Man Brewery, Four Mile Brewery, 42 North Brewing, Community Beer Works, Riverworks Brewing, Lafayette Brewing, New York Beer Project, Brickyard Brewing Company will be featuring a Sunday brunch for the closeout event of Beer Week. 11am.

Bring your appetite and singing voices (or just your listening ears) to Lilly Belle Meads for a delicious brunch followed by a Beatles Sing-Along. All are welcome and encouraged to call out songs. If you call it, you lead it and we all sing along. 10am.

The inaugural Borderland Music and Arts Festival continues today and runs all weekend at Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora. The two-day music and arts festival celebrates the rich history of the region through performances by both international and local artists, craft beer, food, artisans, and more. Tickets and more information on the event can be purchased at Borderlandsfestival.com.

It’s that time a year again, the time when we say goodbye to someone who has been so good to us over the past few months – Community Beer Works’ beloved Belgian Witbier, Rutherford B. Haze at Community Beer Works Funeral of Rutherford B. Haze. Start with a fabulous beer brunch pairing, 11am-2pm, at Hot Mama’s Canteen, immediately followed by HMC & CBW 2nd Line NOLA funeral parade. The 2nd Line Jazz Funeral will be led by Brass Pro and the Waterfront Revivalist. CBW will provide swagtastic items. Wear your finest black, bring a bright umbrella and just dance down the street. The band will lead in a group song of “When the Saints” feel free to sing. Then Brass Pro will perform in front of the bar and inside. 11am.

It’s time to brew up your favorite malt-forward recipes for the Malt Madness Homebrew Competition at Rusty Nickel. Rusty Nickel is approaching this homebrew comp a little different as they are splitting the categories in an unorthodox way – beers will be judged by SRM instead of style. Winners of each category will receive a medal, and the winner of the Best in Show competition will be invited to brew their beer at Rusty Nickel and have it on tap in the tasting room. And better yet, I’ll be serving as one of the judges for the competition, along with some other members of the Buffalo Beer League. Register at EventBrite. 3-6pm.

Elsewhere during Buffalo Beer Week, as has become customary, Buffalo Brewing Company will be open every day and even have a new projection screen to watch Bills games on Sundays. Pearl Street and Lafayette Brewing are offering $3.50 pints all Beer Week long, and score $2 off pints at Pizza Plant and $4 pints at Riverworks Brewing with coupons you can find in the official Beer Week book.

Keep it locked to www.buffalobeerweek.com for more daily blog posts regarding all of the beers, all of the events and all of the happenings going on throughout Buffalo Beer Week. These next 10 days are about beer yes, but above all else, drink responsibly and be safe. If you need a ride home, try Lyft, Uber or Liberty Cab’s Ride Local. There are plenty of options to both drink and get home responsibly.
