If Buffalo Beer Week were a concert, today would be the day that the band plays a popular song right before they close their set with their radio single. Therefore, this is it, the second last day of Buffalo Beer Week, which just has happens to fall on a Saturday. Funny how that works, right? Cards on the table – we planned it that way. As you would expect, today is one of the busiest days of all of Buffalo Beer Week.
There’s a lot happening today in East Aurora, including the first ever Borderland Music and Arts Fest, Woodcock is hosting another beer fest up in Wilson, and Brickyard Brewing and West Shore Brewing are dropping another hazy treat for beer fans.
The inaugural Borderland Music and Arts Festival kicks off today and runs all weekend at Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora. The two-day music and arts festival celebrates the rich history of the region through performances by both international and local artists, craft beer, food, artisans, and more. Tickets and more information on the event can be purchased at Borderlandsfestival.com.
East Aurora Tour de Pub cards will be available at 42 North Brewery, Aurora Brew Works, and at the Borderland Music and Arts Festival. The card entitles the holder to special local featured brews & promos at participating EA pubs.
Brickyard Brewing and West Shore Brewing, the same breweries that brought you White Bronco New England IPA and Green Flyer NEIPA, have teamed up on Das Blep Double Dry Hopped NEIPA, a hazy creation not short on cat puns. Das Blep, a beer born out of a love of cat videos and photos between Brickyard’s John Meeter and West Shore’s Josh Dziomba, was brewed at Brickyard with Galaxy, Nelson and Vic Secret to produce notes of white peach, over-the-top tropical fruit and white wine. Cans will be released at both locations on September 22 during Oktoberfest celebrations at each brewery. Brickyard will be selling Das Blep cans on the street during the Hops & Harvest Festival at 10am.
Celebrate the end of summer and the near conclusion of Buffalo Beer Week in style with a Seafood Boil at Rusty Nickel Brewing in collaboration with the Ebenezer Ale House and an open bar. Tickets for the event can be purchased at EventBrite. 3pm.
Woodcock Brothers’ Cocktoberfest features live German music, authentic style German food specials, including house-made beer bratwurst with kraut and potato pancake, wiener schnitzel with braised red cabbage and potato pancake, sauerbraten with spatzle and braised red cabbage. Woodcock’s fall seasonal brew Cocktoberfest Lager will be featured on draft as will be available in 16oz. 4pks. There will also be several other house beers and a few special seasonal beers on draft as well. Dress up in your finest Lederhosen or German garb and receive $1 off a pint of beer. 12pm.
Also, get $1 off all pints of New York State beer at Mr. Goodbar, Thin Man takes over the taps at World of Beer (3-6pm), Buffalo Brewing Company is taking over the taps at the Adam Mickiewicz Library & Dramatic Circle (6-10pm), Zak Ward performs at 12 Gates (8pm) and Grizzwoode takes the stage at Eli Fish (9pm).
Elsewhere during Buffalo Beer Week, as has become customary, Buffalo Brewing Company will be open every day and even have a new projection screen to watch Bills games on Sundays. Pearl Street and Lafayette Brewing are offering $3.50 pints all Beer Week long, and score $2 off pints at Pizza Plant and $4 pints at Riverworks Brewing with coupons you can find in the official Beer Week book.
