Thin Man Brewery’s Elmwood Taproom Closes
Citing changes in the craft beer industry brought on by the COVID pandemic, Thin Man Brewery’s Elmwood taproom, their headquarters for the last seven years, has closed its doors. While the brewery will remain in operation for beer production, the kitchen and taproom will close. “The last seven years at Elmwood have been full of great times, amazing people, and so much more,” the brewery said. “On behalf of the staff here at Thin Man, we are beyond grateful to our patrons, friends, and family for all the support we’ve had by our side.” Thin Man’s Chandler Street taproom will remain open as usual.
Von Trapp Brewing Collab, Tap Takeover at Thin Man Chandler
On July 14, Thin Man will release a special collaboration with Vermont’s Von Trapp Brewing, Northeast Light, a light, grassy and slightly crackery American lager. The beer will be available on draft and in 12oz. cans to go. And, for those in attendance for the release, each pint of Northeast Light will earn one entry to win a one night stay at the Trapp Family Lodge. Von Trapp is also bringing a few other beers along for the ride, including Bavarian Pils, Bohemian Pils, Kolsch, Dunkel and Hopfenweisse.
Buffalo Brewing to Release Golden Snowball Beer
Named and brewed in honor of Buffalo winning the award given to the snowiest city in upstate New York for a second straight year, Buffalo Brewing Company will release Golden Snowball Cream Ale on July 13. The beer is 5.5% cream ale is dry hopped with Cascade hops. Golden Snowball is also the first beer to utilize the high build tactile effect from TLF Graphics for the can art, which provides a shimmer look that makes the snow on the can art look real, which can actually be felt. The beer will be released at their Myrtle taproom at 4pm.
Magic Bear, Lilly Belle Team Up on New Mead
Larkin’s Magic Bear Beer Cellar have teamed up with Lilly Belle Meads for their latest collaboration, BEARy Peach Sangria, a white peach sangria style mead with apricot, pear, strawberry, and blueberry, with a hint of mint, which will be released at Magic Bear on July 14 (5pm). The release party will also serve as an opportunity to learn more about mead, the world’s oldest alcoholic beverage, with a tasting with Lilly Belle and their meads. There will also be pulled pork from Brisket Love BBQ for sale.
Drink Something Local at This Weekend’s Cobblestone Live
The 2023 Cobblestone Live Music & Arts Festival, which takes place July 14-15 in downtown Buffalo’s Cobblestone District, will feature a host of local craft beer and cider options. This year’s event, headlined by Twiddle on Friday and Andy Grammer on Saturday, will feature Southern Tier Brewing Juice Jolt and Mango Rays, Big Ditch Brewing’s Little Waves, Resurgence Brewing’s Loganberry Wit and BlackBird Cider Works’ Estate Reserve. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now at cobblestonelive.com and day-of show tickets will be available at the gates both days this weekend.
Big Ditch Dayburner Wins Gold at US Open Beer Championships
Big Ditch’s flagship session IPA, Dayburner, took home a gold medal at the recent 2023 U.S. Open Beer Championship in the Light IPA / Session IPA category. They topped Mini Separation Anxiety from Berryessa Brewing Co.(California) and Spot Hitter from Resolute Brewing Company (Colorado). Breweries from Maui to Miami sent more than 9,000 beers(3,107 entries) representing over 160 different styles to the 2023 U.S. Open Beer Championship.
Waldfest: Festival in the Woods Returns to East Aurora for 46th Year
It’s that time of year again – time to gather together in the woods and toast giant mugs of traditional German beer. Yes, you guessed it – it’s once again time for Waldfest, the annual Festival in the Woods, which takes place on July 16, 12-7pm, at Spring Garden Park (3838 Two Rod Road, East Aurora). The German American Musicians and the Auslanders will provide authentic German music and food will be available on site as will plenty of authentic German beers. There is also free parking.
