The annual Buffalo IPA Palooza (September 14, Pizza Plant Canalside, 12pm) features all of your favorite IPAs from all of your favorite local breweries, all in one place for a massive hop blowout! Among the hoppy brews you can expect are Big Ditch Lock IPA Series #7: Dart, Ellicottville Brewing Tangerine New England IPA, Community Beer Works Singularity Citra, Pressure Drop / Big Ditch Aqua Jesus Triple IPA, Hamburg Brewing Just Saying Volume 2: Swear Jar, Lilly Belle Meads Hops & Honey, Belt Line Seven Dankly Sins DIPA, Flying Bison Farm to Pint IPA (cask) and 12 Gates Chinook Wet Hop Pale Ale (hops from Fredonia’s Lupulin Fields). Annual Brewers Shuffleboard Tournament Returns to Big Ditch
Buffalo brewers will again descend upon Big Ditch Brewing as they do battle atop the shuffleboard table for the 5th Annual Buffalo Brewers Shuffleboard Tournament on September 12 (6pm). Reigning three time champs 42 North will defend their crown, as they, along with Woodcock Brothers Brewing, receive a bye. Other matches include Pressure Drop vs. Lilly Belle Meads, 12 Gates vs. Old First Ward Brewing, New York Beer Project vs. Community Beer Works, Thin Man vs. One-Eyed Cat, Big Ditch vs. West Shore and Resurgence Brewing vs. Rusty Nickel. Aqua Jesus Triple IPA on draft and in cans as well.
Kick Off Buffalo Beer Week at the Opening Gala at Flying Bison
Get the 10th Annual Buffalo Beer Week started off on the right foot at the Official Opening Gala at Flying Bison Brewing on September 13 (5pm). Enjoy a selection of beers from over 25 Buffalo Niagara Brewers Association member breweries and meet the brewers while you drink. Listen to live music by Tony DeRosa on the covered patio and satisfy your hunger with food from Casa Azul & Kindred Kreek’s Farm to Table food trucks. $20 admission at the door (includes drink tokens). Ticket includes 8 tokens worth 5 oz. each. More can be purchased for $2 each as well.
Pressure Drop Brewing, 12 Gates Brewing Plan Can Releases
Pressure Drop Brewing will release their latest collaboration, a tart, refreshing and crushable Cucumber Gose brewed with over 600 pounds of cucumbers and Celtic Sea Salt named Solenya, brewed with Barrel + Brine, on September 14 (2pm) at Barrel + Brine’s new Chandler Street home. The release party will feature bobbing for cucumbers, a Pressure Drop tap takeover and a pickle-themed food menu.
12 Gates Brewing are releasing cans of their Community Beer Works collab Resting Peach Face, a sessionable peach sour. $12.69 4-pack/ $76 case 16oz, cans (+ tax & deposit). Pints of Resting Peach Face will be $5.
Resurgence Celebrates the Season with All-Day Oktoberfest Party
Celebrate the season at Resurgence Brewing’s annual Oktoberfest Party on September 14 (12pm), featuring the RBC Oktoberfest Games! Team competition includes Stein Hoisting (longest hold wins), Axe Throwing (best/most accurate), Stein Carrying Relay Race (each team does 2 laps, 2 teams against each other, fastest time wins), Barrel Roll (fastest times wins) and Pretzel Eating Contest. $25 per team, entry fee includes RBC Games shirt, mug, first fill, beer for games. Live music from German Association (2-6pm, parking lot) and food from Lloyds Taco Truck (12-3pm) and Fat Bobs (2-6pm). Resurgence are also releasing cans of their Pina Colada Sour.
Buffalo Beer Geeks Bottle Share for Charity at Belt Line
The Buffalo Beer Geeks are hosting a charitable bottle share at Belt Line Brewery & Kitchen on September 16 (5pm), with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the Kevin Guest House, whose mission it is to provide a home away from home for patients and their families traveling for medical care. For a donation (ticketing information at EventBrite) and some geeky bottles, you can join in on the share and donate to a good cause. The Buffalo Beer Geeks club will be on site selling their newest glassware. Light complimentary bites will be served. Kitchen will be open too.
Experience a True Farm to Pint & Plate Dinner at Hotel Henry
Hotel Henry is teaming up with a handful of local breweries and cideries including Froth Brewing, Thin Man, 42 North and BlackBird Cider Works for a true Farm to Pint & Plate craft beer and food pairing on September 16 (6pm). Pair Froth’s Stardog Double IPA with seared scallops, Blackbird’s Tart Cherry Perry cider with porchetta, 42 North’s Oatmeal Cookie Brown Ale with a spiced chocolate nut bar from 100 Acres Bakery and Thin Man’s Pills Mafia with rabbit quesadilla. Each $55 ticket includes four sampling glasses of craft brew, one full draft of your choosing, and four tasting plates.
