Mortalis Brewing to Open Buffalo Location October 12
Avon’s Mortalis Brewing Company will open their Buffalo location at 1250 Niagara Street (inside the former Company B Tasting Room) on Thursday, October 12 (12pm). They will have a new food menu featuring infusions of Mortalis beer, wine, meads from Illumination Meadery (Candied Apple, Gingerbread, Loganberry, Cotton Candy, Blackberry and more), and over a dozen of their own beers on tap, including Maximum IPA, Clock Tower Swirls Imperial Stout, Pineapple Coconut Lager, Richmond Lite Lager, Hydra and Gemini smoothie sours and more. Woodcock Brothers to Host Fall Brew Fest, Cocktoberfest
This is one of Woodcock Brothers’ biggest weekends of the year at their Wilson location with their sixth annual Fall Brew Fest and Cocktoberfest. Brew Fest (Sept. 29) features fall, harvest and seasonal brews from more than 25 local and New York state craft breweries and cideries, live music from the Boogie Monsters (6-10pm), lawn games and local vendors. Cocktoberfest (Sept. 30) will feature vendors, live music from The Bergholz German Band (2pm) and JB Aaron (6:30pm), and German food and beer from more than 20 New York state breweries. Both events are free (tickets can be purchased per drink).
First Line, Windy Brew Drop New Pumpkin Ale
First Line Brewing and Windy Brew have once again teamed up to present Monster Mash, a pumpkin spice amber ale, which can be found on tap now at both locations. Monster Mash is brewed with real pumpkin purée and fall spice, and the breweries explain they named the beer Monster Mash because it was the most insane brew day of their lives and the mash was nothing short of a monster.
Wayland Brewing Drops Oktoberfest, New IPA
Orchard Park’s Wayland Brewing has released a new Oktoberfest for the season, as well as a new IPA for WNY Beer Week. Their Märzen clocks in at 5.4% and is brewed with Mittelfrüh hops for a gentle malt sweetness and subtle hoppy bitterness. Oktoberfest is available on draft and in 12oz. 6-pack cans at the brewery. And for Beer Week, Wayland tapped Orbital IPA, brewed with McKenzie and Citra hops, a balanced and drinkable IPA with notes of nectarine, melon and citrus. Orbiter is available on draft at the brewery, as well as a few select draft lines around town.
Buffalo on Tap Returns January 12-13, 2024
Buffalo on Tap will return to the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center on January 12-13, 2024. There will be two sessions each day – VIP tickets include 4 hours of craft beer sampling, live music, souvenir sampling glass and an additional commemorative item, and General Admission tickets include 3 hours of craft beer sampling, live music and souvenir sampling glass. Tickets go on sale September 29 (early-bird ticket pricing through October 2).
Ellicottville Brewing, Iron Smoke Distillery BA Pumpkinville Release Party
Ellicottville Brewing and Iron Smoke Distillery are celebrating the release of their whiskey barrel aged Pumpkinville at the distillery on September 30. There will be vertical tastings of 2021, 2022, and 2023 barrel aged Pumpkinville, distillery co-founder Tommy Brunett and Master Distiller Drew Wescott will be on hand signing bottles of Rattlesnake Rosie’s Pumpkin Pie Whiskey, there will be witch broom races, seasonal cocktails, free tours and splash tastings on the hour. Kiss This, Kiss Tribute Band ($10) will perform at 8:30pm.
Thin Man Collabs with Prison Pals, Unbranded on New Bills Beer
Just in time for the Bills to welcome the Miami Dolphins to town, Thin Man has teamed up with Florida’s Unbranded Brewing and Prison Pals Brewing on Welcome To Hell Miami, a new hazy IPA, brewed with Galaxy, Citra Cyro and Phantasm hops, with notes of citrus and tropical fruit. The beer will be released September 29 at Colter Bay (2pm). The release party will feature beers from Prison Pals (Goat 10 Lager and Smoothie Series #1 Sour (pineapple, mango and passionfruit)), and Unbranded (West Coast Y’all IPA, Hazy IPA, and Hopes & Dreams, a sour with black cherry, banana, coconut and pineapple).
Fall Harvest Oktoberfest Beer Pairing Dinner at Hofbrauhaus
On October 3 (7pm), Hofbrauhaus will host a Fall Harvest Oktoberfest Beer Pairing Dinner, which includes five courses of traditional German dishes paired with their beers. Tickets for the dinner are $82.29 (includes tax and gratuity). The menu includes a Dunkel paired with butternut squash soup, Festbier paired with pumpkin ravioli, Pils paired with beer braised short ribs and spätzle, Oktoberfestbier paired with malt crusted beef tenderloin and garlic mashed potatoes and Bockbier paired with traditional apfel strudel.
