Maifest at Spring Garden Park in East Aurora
Maifest at Spring Garden Park, located at 3838 Two Rod Road in East Aurora, will feature a specially brewed Maibock, a German lager that is paler and more hop-centric than traditional bock beers, from 42 North Brewing. There will be a keg tapping ceremony at 1:15pm, special guest appearance by The Caledonian Pipe Band and SGTV Edelweiss Dancers, and live music from The Beer Fest Boys at 2pm. Buffalo Brewing Company Drops 2 New Lagers
Buffalo Brewing is keeping things light and crisp with their two newest beers – Simon Pure Light and Refined Simplicity Czech Dark Lager. Simon Pure Light is a more sessionable version of the revival brew at 3.5% – it’s crisp and balanced with notes of biscuit malt and toasted bread, all while maintaining the body of the original. Refined Simplicity is also light and crisp at 5.4% – creamy and smooth with subtle hints of roast. Both beers are available on draft and in cans at the BBC taproom.
Resurgence to the Rescue Pet Photo Contest Returns
The Resurgence to the Rescue Pet Photo Contest, which benefits Ten Lives Club and Buddy’s Second Chance Rescue, is back for a fifth year, and your pet could be the face of the new Resurgence summer beer can. Winning pets will be named the Top Dog and Coolest Cat of Buffalo, receive a photoshoot with Tailor Mayde Dog + Pet Photography on June 10, professional groom at Alford’s Angels and a five-day pass to Buddy & Friends Dog Daycare for the winning dog, Winning pets will also be celebrated at the annual Resurgence to the Rescue Beer Can Release Party at Resurgence on July 20. Rusty Nickel To Officially Open Beer Garden May 21
One of the true jewels of the Western New York craft beer scene can be found out back behind Rusty Nickel Brewing in West Seneca. The brewery has put a lot of effort into upgrading their backyard over the years, making it a great place to enjoy a pint. You can experience the space for yourself beginning on May 21, when the beer garden opens for the season. Rusty Nickel will have season brews and cocktails, there will be yard games like cornhole to place, and there will be fire pits and s’mores to enjoy. In the event of severe weather, a rain date will be announced.
Everest Microbrewery Announced for Niagara Falls
Everest Microbrewery has been announced as part of a new multi-million dollar investment in downtown Niagara Falls by Shamsher Singh. The proposed space, located at 1 Prospect Point next to the Comfort Inn – The Pointe hotel. Buffalo Business First reports that Everest, a 2,100-square-foot restaurant and brewery, will offer seating inside and outside for about 60 patrons and will offer five types of unfiltered beer to start, with the possibility of adding more. Singh says that he expects to wrap up construction on Everest in the next eight weeks. There is no opening date as of yet.
Wayland Brewing’s Spring Beer & Food Fest This Weekend
Wayland Brewing will hold their second annual Spring Beer & Food Festival on May 17 in Wayland Hall. In addition to Wayland, the festival will play host to tastings from numerous other breweries, including Beer Kind Brewing, Briarbrothers Brewing, Brickyard Brewing, Frequentem, Mortalis, New York Beer Project, Other Half, Fidens, Angry Chair, Threes Brewing, Swiftwater, Talea, Strangebird, Prison City and more. There will also be food available from Buffalo Burger Bros and more. Tickets, which include tastings, food and a commemorative glass, are $60 and are available to purchase now online. Designated driver tickets are also available.
42 North Left Coast Taco IPA, Beer & Chocolate Pairing
42 North Brewing has released a new West Coast IPA exclusively on tap at Left Coast Taco in East Aurora. Left Coast IPA is a 6.4 % West Coast IPA featuring Mosaic, Idaho 7, and Simcoe hops – its crisp and well-balanced with a nice piney finish. You can find this beer on tap right now.
The brewery is also partnering with Watson’s Chocolates for a special beer and chocolate pairing on May 15 (7pm) at 42 at the Flats. The event will feature a selection of 42 North’s beers paired with chocolate from Watson’s. Tickets are $20 and reservations are required. You can purchase yours here.
