With the Buffalo Sabres winning their first playoff series in nearly two decades, Briarbrothers Brewing is looking to fill our fridges full for game day with Warpath Lager, a balanced and light bodied 5% American lager with subtle hops and a crackery malt backbone.

And after the way the Sabres have played after winning the first game of the second round against the Montreal Canadiens, we could all use a beer, especially one themed around a love of this team.

Briarbrothers co-owner Joel Betti said that Warpath was created to mimic the mindset, grit and heart of the Buffalo fanbase that has rallied around this resurgent Sabres squad. Buffalo is a blue collar town and this is a blue collar lager.

“Warpath was brewed to mirror the kind of midseason surge that Buffalo hockey fans know so well,” Betti said. “The moment when things start clicking and you can feel the momentum building.”

Warpath is as easy drinking and approachable as light lagers get – crisp and smooth with just enough crackery malt and dry toast notes to remind you that you are drinking craft. It goes down far too easy – trust me, I did a bit of research during Game 3 with a 4-pack of my own – and you’ll be reaching for another can in no time.

“As lifelong Buffalo residents and small business owners, that mindset resonates with us. There are stretches where you’re grinding, staying consistent, and trusting the work, and then suddenly you hit your stride. This beer is a nod to that push forward, to resilience, and to the belief that if you keep showing up and putting in the effort, good things are ahead,” Betti added.

Warpath is available at the Briarbrothers taproom on draft and in cans to go.
