You voted for it and now it’s time to drink it – Barbaric Blonde Ale that is, the official Edge beer from the minds of 12 Gates Brewing Company and 103.3 The Edge. The first ever official Edge beer will hit the taps at 12 Gates Brewing on Friday, October 13 at 5pm.

What is Barbaric Blonde Ale you ask? Well, first off, it beat out an IPA, a Wheat Pale Ale and a Kentucky Common during the voting process, which took place this past July. It’s a dry-hopped American Blonde Ale with Citra and Hallertauer hops that clocks in at 4.2% ABV and 20 IBU. It’s light, refreshing and easy drinking with balanced malt and hop flavors, as well as citrus and noble hop aromas.

“After the EDGE Beer Trials on July 28th I was tasked with scaling up the winning beer from 45 gallons to 930 gallons all the while keeping the aspects that drew people to enjoy it,” 12 Gates Head Brewer Scott Shuler says. “This was a fun, but daunting task. After getting the tweaks and calculations to the place I wanted I gathered the crew and we brewed this beauty. We took special care to be as close to the original as possible, and we are confident we hit those marks.”

“The final product is an easily enjoyable American Blonde Ale that has enough character and personality to separate it from the hum drum American Blondes we are accustomed to,” he continues. “The beer drinks clean with a fruity spice on the front end due to the dry hop with Citra and Hallertauer. There is enough body to carry the spice to the clean, but slightly biscuty finish. This resets the pallet for another sip. And with the 4.2% ABV you can easily enjoy a few (but please drink responsibly).  I mean I have enjoyed a few as I have been writing this up.”

The Edge will be on hand as Bentley will be live broadcasting from 3-7pm and Shredd & Ragan will be making a special guest appearance. Live music from AJ Tetzlaff takes place from 3-7pm and OCD/C from 7-10pm. There will also be a ceremonial tapping will be at 5pm.

Barbaric Blonde Ale will also be available around the area as well as on tap at concerts and venues.
