42 North Brewing Company is launching a special beer to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of New York State Parks. This beer, Centennial Pilsner, also features 100% New York State ingredients.
The Centennial Pilsner will be sold in a limited-edition four-packs. Each 16oz. can in the four pack features illustrative artwork from a different New York State Park. The parks showcased on the four-pack include the nation’s oldest state park, Niagara Falls, the “Grand Canyon of the East,” Letchworth, the stunning waterfalls of Watkins Glen, and the park known for its mythical mineral waters, Saratoga Spa. Each can will also include a QR code with more information on the park and their centennial events.
According to John Cimperman, 42 North’s founder, “The great outdoors are a big part of the DNA of 42 North. We are blessed to have these great parks in our backyard and wanted to launch this beer to celebrate this historic year. We encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the natural wonders of New York State.”
The Centennial Pilsner is a west-coast style pilsner that features New York State grown ingredients. The main ingredient is pilsner malt from New York Craft Malt, as well as Centennial, Chinook, and Excelsior.
“It’s also great to support the agriculture industry of New York by featuring 100% New York State hops and malts in this beer,” Cimperman added.
The New York State Park system was founded in April of 1924 with the forming of the New York State Council of Parks. New York State now boasts 180 state parks and 335,000 acres of parkland. In 2024, visitation to New York State Parks hit an all time high with over 84 million visitors. During the summer of 2024, New York State Parks will also host special events to commemorate the historic year.
The Centennial Pilsner is available throughout New York State at Wegmans, Tops, Consumers Beverage, select independent craft beer retailers, and 42 North’s taproom in East Aurora and downtown Buffalo.
