12 Gates Brewing Company have teamed up with 103.3 The Edge to create a special new Edge Beer, which will be available throughout the Buffalo-Niagara region starting late summer through the rest of the year, as well as on tap at concerts and select venues.
They need your help in helping to determine what exactly Edge Beer will ultimately be. After starting with a list of 23 different beers, the list was narrowed down to four, and your vote is needed in selecting the final style. 12 Gates are brewing four pilot batches – an IPA, a Wheat Pale Ale, a Kentucky Common, and an American Blonde – for the beer drinking public to choose from, with the final vote taking place at 12 Gates’ Williamsville tap room on Friday, July 28.
On July 28, The Edge will be broadcasting live from 12 Gates and that’s when the voting will commence. The four pilot batches will be tapped and participants can enjoy the samples and vote for their favorite. Once all of the votes are tabulated, the winning style will be announced. The prevailing beer style will be then scaled up to 12 Gates’ 30-barrel production system.
According to 12 Gates head brewer Scott Shuler, each of these four styles ‘represents a good cross section of styles that would be good on draft, on the porch, at a concert, or a sporting event.’
“I am super excited to be working with 103.3 The Edge,” Shuler says. “We have a great relationship with everyone over at Cumulus and we look to extend this love even farther. When the idea of brewing a special beer for them came up we jumped at the idea. It is a great way to pour back into the community and reach new people.”
James Kurdziel, The Edge’s Director of Programming, adds that Edge Beer is something the station has been planning for some time and the new partnership with 12 Gates was the final piece of the puzzle.
“We’re really excited to get our Edge Beer off the ground,” he says. “It’s something we’ve been planning and working toward for a while and finding the partnership we have with 12 Gates couldn’t be better. These are pros and they have a lot of buzz around WNY, not only for their great beer, but for their involvement in the community. That’s something we believe in strongly. I can’t wait to get started and for people to see what’s to come.”
