Windy Brew’s Batavia taproom, which opened in the Harvester Building in Aug, 2023, officially closed their doors on Oct. 13.
The 1,400 sq. ft. taproom space featured seating for 20 at the bar and 50 in the common area. There were 18 tap lines, including a cider tap and two nitro taps. The taproom also featured a full bar offering craft cocktails. The taproom was an open, updated space with an industrial feel fitting in with the rich history of the Harvester Center.
“While feedback and reviews from the community were strong from the start, it was a challenge to gain a foothold and draw in the volume of patronage that is necessary to sustain a business,” the brewery said on social media. “To the Batavia community, thank you for your support and kind words.”
The brewery said that they chose to open in Batavia because they felt that they outgrew their Strykersville location and were looking for a larger space close in proximity. Batavia was chosen, in part, because there wasn’t much in the way of similar establishments in the city itself.
“Almost two years ago, we decided to capitalize on the momentum of our small, homegrown taproom in Strykersville by adding a new Windy Brew location in Batavia,” the statement continued. “After more than a year of hard work and planning, during which a space in the Harvester Building was completely transformed, we opened our doors in August 2023 with pride and excitement about the future.”
“Life is about taking risks and not having regrets. Sometimes those risks don’t work out the way you hoped, but the last thing we want is to have a list of “what if’s?”
Windy Brew’s main location in Strykersville will remain open as normal.
“To the patrons of Windy Brew Strykersville, we haven’t forgotten about you! We’re excited to start spending more time together,” the statement read.
