There’s no shortage of reasons why ridesharing is a smart choice after a night of drinking. We’re all adults here – I shouldn’t have to tell you that. Having someone else get behind the wheel while you and your friends enjoy yourselves is just sound reasoning. It’s an especially wise idea if you’re planning on going out this Fourth of July Weekend.

Ride sharing contributes to overall public safety – the fewer impaired drivers on the road, the safer it is for everyone. It’s that simple.

Drunk driving is dangerous and illegal; it can result in fines, license suspension, higher insurance premiums, and even jail time. In short, ridesharing costs a fraction of what a DUI or accident would.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, alcohol-impaired driving kills over 10,000 people annually in the U.S. alone. But with apps like Uber and Lyft, a ride is just a few taps away.

Which is why the Law Offices of William Mattar want to make sure you make it home safe and sound this Fourth of July weekend by once again offering free Uber rides to those in need.

As part of the Safe Ride for the 4th program, now in its third year, they are giving away 1,000 $20 Uber vouchers so you get home safe. You have until July 2nd (noon) to claim your voucher. Vouchers are valid from 12 pm on July 4 through July 5 and trips must be taken in New York (exclusions may apply).

“This program is important because intoxicated driving leads to so many deaths and injuries every year,” a spokesperson from William Mattar said. “If someone decides to use one of our Uber vouchers instead of driving, it could save a life. We hope that all 1,000 vouchers are claimed and used on the 4th so people can have fun, but also be responsible. We truly want people to enjoy their holiday, so we made it even easier to do so.”

In addition to Independence Day, William Mattar also offers safe rides programs for St. Patrick’s Day and New Year’s Eve.

“We want to make it easier for people to enjoy the holiday and get home safely if they’ve been drinking. It’s a simple step that can save lives,” Mattar said.

You can sign up to claim a free voucher here.

If you’re planning on drinking or visiting one of our many local craft establishments this weekend, please do so responsibly. If you’re drinking, especially at a bar, brewery, or event, using a ride share isn’t just smart—it’s the right thing to do for yourself and everyone around you. Let’s be safe out there.
