Most Oktoberfest events may be cancelled locally and across the pond this year, but that’s not stopping the Genesee Brewery from celebrating. The brewery is rolling out a brand-new recipe in its Oktoberfest specialty brew and offering fans a chance to have their own Fest experience at home. Genesee’s Oktoberfest’s new recipe was inspired by the traditional fest beers served in Germany.

“During the modernization of our brewery in 2018, we hosted a number of German and Belgian engineers that travel to Munich each year to celebrate the real-deal Oktoberfest,” explained Steve Kaplan, Genesee Brewmaster. “They were surprised that our annual brew was a Marzen style, and not the Festbier that is served in Munich today. They brought us samples of modern Festbiers which are a deep golden malty and full-bodied lager balanced out with mild bitterness and noble hop aroma. It’s like a Helles lager but bigger, bolder, and higher ABV- exactly what you want to sip all day at the Fest. This year we are taking the advice of our German friends and brewing a big golden malty lager.”

The new Oktoberfest is available now in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans across local Upstate NY retailers.
