WNY Brewers Guild to Hold Charity Golf Tournament
The WNY Brewers Guild Charity Golf Tournament, set to take place August 28 at Chestnut Hill Country Club, will offer golfers and beer enthusiasts an opportunity to play a round with local brewers while enjoying local food and beverages, beer sampling, hole challenges and raffles. You’ll get a chance to meet brewers, sample their beers and raise money for local charities such as Habitat for Humanity, ASPCA and Feedmore WNY. The cost to participate is $120 per person and includes golf, breakfast, lunch, steak dinner and food and drinks on the course. WNY Beer Week Returns September 23-30
After a two-year hiatus, WNY Beer Week, an opportunity to celebrate beer produced in Western New York and highlight the quality, diversity, and the economic impact that local craft beer provides for the entire region, returns September 23 – 30. The week will include special beer events at WNY Brewers Guild member breweries, including a new beer at each to commemorate the start of WNY Beer Week on Sept. 23. In addition, special offerings of locally produced beers will be available at bars and restaurants throughout. Gordy’s Lager Can Release at Wandering Gypsy
Wandering Gypsy Brewing Company will release Gordy’s Lager in cans on August 25. This 5.5% American lager is the brewery’s first canned beer, done in memory of Gordy, one of their very first customers. “We miss him dearly but we’re grateful that he was a part of our beginning, and that he was able to enjoy Gordy’s Lager, knowing it was named for him,” the brewery says. Gordy’s Lager will be available in 4-pack 16oz. cans at the brewery beginning at 8am. There will also be t-shirts available for purchase.
Summer Slammers 2023: Blood Brothers Takeover at The Beer Keep
The Beer Keep is teaming up with Toronto’s Blood Brothers Brewing, along with Rochester’s One Stop Brew Shop, on Summer Slammers 2023, a special tap takeover and beer drop, on August 25 (4pm). The event will feature a number of Blood Brothers beers, including cans of Junkyard Marg Slushie Sour, Cola Beware Seltzer, The Iron Shake Chocolate Banana and Coconut Stout and Reychata Horchata Coffee on Nitro and Bloodvar Czech Style Pilsner and Shumei IP on draft. Cans are limited, 4 per person per beer availability.
First Line Brewing to Celebrate Third Anniversary This Weekend
First Line Brewing will mark their third anniversary this weekend on August 26. The party will feature a pair of new beer releases, live music from Fuzzy Thurston (4pm) and Brandon Bartoo (7pm), and more. Any current First Line Chug Club member who attends will receive a free fill as a thank you. “Come celebrate 3 amazing years with us this Saturday August 26,” the brewery says. “The past three years have been unforgettable and so special because of all our amazing customers!”
Thin Man Brewery Drops New 19.2oz. Cans, Plans New IPA Release
Thin Man has entered the 19.2oz. stovepipe can arena with Pills Mafia and Oktoberfest, both of which are available exclusively at Highmark Stadium this season. Pills Mafia combines German pilsner malt and traditional German hops in a crisp, easy drinking lager. Thin Man’s Oktoberfest is rich and bready with toasty malts, and a light herbal crispness from the Hersbrucker hops.
The brewery will also release Cali Brain, the first entry in their new West Coast IPA series. This 7% IPA is crisp, clean and medium-bodied, and is brewed with Centennial and Pacific Sunrise hops for notes of pine, citrus, and stone fruit, backed up by a mild bitterness. Cali Brain will be released on draft and in 4-pack cans to-go at the brewery on August 25.
