Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Weekend at a Number of Local Breweries

Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, a number of breweries are going green this weekend. On March 14, West Shore Brewing are releasing Lehigh Red Ale and Dry Irish Stout (5pm) along with live music and food, the 27th Annual “Old Neighborhood” St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes place (12pm) in the Old First Ward, Resurgence Brewing (Chicago Street) is celebrating (5pm) with music from The Growlers (1pm) and Model Citizen (5pm), green beer and Irish-themed menu and Belt Line (12pm) are partying with beer, Irish food specials and Irish music. Woodcock Brothers at Wurlitzer will celebrate on March 17 (5pm) with food and beer specials as well as live music from Pour Old Goat. Slainte!

Community Beer Works Wins Pair of American Advertising Awards

Community Beer Works has won a pair of awards at AAF Buffalo’s Addy’s Speakeasy 2020 Awards. The brewery, who previously won awards for That IPA and The Whale packaging, took home awards in ‘Packaging – Single’ for their Let’s Go Pils and ‘Packaging Campaign’ for the 2019 Ballpark Brewers Series, which saw CBW partner with Big Ditch Brewing and Resurgence Brewing on a limited edition four pack that featured beer from each brewery along with a special collaborative beer. Brand Manager Chris Groves designed the beer packaging and labels. Mike West, CBW’s Director of Photography, was also mentioned in the awards.

Thin Man Brewery to Host Péché Day for Fourth Straight Year

Thin Man Brewery (Elmwood) will once again serve as an official host of Péché Day, an international celebration of Brasserie Dieu du Ciel’s beloved Imperial Coffee Stout, on March 21 (11am). In addition to Péché Mortel 2020, Thin Man will also tap a number of limited edition variants, including Péché Mortel Bourbon 2019 (aged in bourbon barrels), Péché Mortel Cassis (brewed with black currants), Péché Mortel Mexican Stout (cocoa beans, ancho & guajillo peppers, cinnamon & vanilla pods), Péché Mortel Sidama (brewed with Ethiopian Sidama Howolso coffee) and Nanatsu No Taizai, an Imperial Coffee Lager collaboration with Toronto’s Godspeed Brewery.

Brickyard Brewing Company to Roll Out the Real Ale for 1812 Night

Brickyard Brewing will again mark the 1813 Burning of Lewiston at their third annual 1812 Night (March 12, 4pm). The free event will feature re-enactors from Fort Niagara, a narrator recounting the burning from the Tuscarora perspective, live music starting at 6:30pm, and traditional real ale, including casks of Old Hickory Coconut Brown Ale, An Appeal to Heaven Spruce Beer, Cunning Use of Flags English IPA and Cock of the Walk Historical Ale, as well as draft pours of Bayonet the Whole, the brewery’s English-Style Barleywine. Brickyard will not be accepting reservations and seating is on a first-come first-serve basis.
