Resurgence Brewing Teams with Buffalo News on New Beer Series

The Buffalo News and Resurgence Brewing Company have partnered on “Stories of Resurgence,” a new beer series in honor of Buffalo’s revitalization. The first beer in the series, Big League Summer, celebrates the return of Major League Baseball to Buffalo for the first time since 1915. The can art features a QR code that connects users to a local sports trivia quiz and the story on Buffalo’s baseball history. Big League Summer is a 6.5% ABV all-Citra hopped New England-style IPA with a strong tropical fruit flavor profile. Big League Summer is available at the brewery and Consumer’s Beverages.

Mr. Goodbar Beer Club to Feature Flying Bison Brewing

For the next installment of Mr. Goodbar’s Beer Club, the first back at the bar since the start of the pandemic, Flying Bison will serve as the guest brewery on July 14 (7:30pm). Owner Tim Herzog will take part, bringing along beer such as Larkin Lager, Mango Peach, Rusty Chain, Fairtastic, Aviator Red, Juice Caboose, Brother Manto, Blackbird Stout,  Chocolate Cherry Porter and Paula’s Peanut Stick Porter. Beer Club will feature desserts from Fairy Cakes Cupcakery and Bakeshop. A limited amount of tickets are available at Mr. Goodbar.

 

New Meadery Coming to East Aurora

A new meadery reportedly has plans to open up shop in East Aurora in the future. Deanna Grace Spengler filed for a manufacturing license in June for Three Bear Meadery, according to Buffalo Business First, who also reports that she plans to make the honey-based mead at her Maple Avenue home in Hamburg and sell the products at farm markets and through online sales. Three Bear Meadery is named for her three boys. There is no official timeline for opening.

Buy Community Beer Works Good Neighbor and Help Fight Cancer

For every six-pack of Community Beer Works Good Neighbor IPA sold in July, $1 will be donated to Roswell Park. Try-It Distributing will match all donations made. CBW is also partnering with Tops Friendly Markets, who will donate an additional $1 per six-pack sold at all locations until July 31. Tops shoppers can also find displays of Good Neighbor IPA with QR codes to enter a giveaway at participating locations.

West Shore, Eli Fish, Rusty Nickel, Lilly Belle Team on New Smoothie Sour

Three local breweries and one meadery – West Shore Brewing, Eli Fish Brewing, Rusty Nickel Brewing and Lilly Belle Meads – have teamed up on Open Boxes, a 6% fruit smoothie sour, which will be released on July 17 at all participating locations. Each brewery was tasked with providing 1-2 boxes of fruit puree without telling the other brewers. Each location will have just 8 cases and a limited amount on draft. Draft will be available Wednesday only at Rusty Nickel.
