The Buffalo News and Resurgence Brewing Company are partnering to launch a new beer series, “Stories of Resurgence,” to raise a glass in honor of Buffalo’s revitalization – and give craft beer aficionados a new option for summer sipping.

The first beer in the series, Big League Summer, available now, celebrates the return of Major League Baseball to Buffalo for the first time since 1915. The beer can features a baseball-inspired design with a QR code that connects users to a dedicated microsite, where they can challenge themselves to an interactive local sports trivia quiz and catch the inside story on Buffalo’s baseball history.

“Partnering to share Buffalo’s stories of renewal with Resurgence’s smart, well-informed customers was one of those ideas that just immediately made sense. What’s more Buffalo than sharing a well-crafted story over a well-crafted beer?” said Tom Wiley, publisher and president of The Buffalo News. “We also think it’s a perfect reflection of the current resurgence of The Buffalo News – and our innovative vision for the future.”

The beer is a 6.5% ABV all-Citra hop New England-style IPA with a strong tropical fruit flavor profile and very little bitterness. In addition to Resurgence on Chicago Street in Buffalo, the beer is available now at all 18 Consumer’s Beverages locations throughout WNY.

“Our mission at Resurgence is to inspire people in Buffalo to do cool things,” said Jeff Ware, president and owner of Resurgence. “It’s great to partner with our neighbor, The Buffalo News, to celebrate one of the coolest things in recent memory – major league baseball in Buffalo.”
