Five & 20 Releases Shape Shifter IPA: Cyan Sun, Double Xing Returns
Cyan Sun, the latest release in Five & 20 Brewing’s Shape Shifter IPA series, is the first Session IPA of the line. Just in time for summer, the 4.5% IPA is dry hopped with Multi-Head, Azacca and NY Cascade for tropical fruit aromas and flavors of pineapple, peach and candied orange. Cyan Sun is available in cans at the brewery and will be on draft this weekend. Starting in June, it also will be distributed to select retailers in Western New York and Erie areas.
Five & 20’s Double Xing Imperial IPA has also made a return. This classic IIPA features a balanced body with notes of tropical fruit and lemongrass. It’s in bottles and on tap at the brewery and will also be available at select retailers.
Resurgence Looking for Furry, Four-Legged Models for Can Art
Resurgence Brewing is searching for Buffalo’s cutest and most camera ready dogs and cats to be the faces of their new summer beer. One dog and one cat will be featured on a Resurgence beer can. All proceeds from the “Resurgence to the Rescue” photo contest will benefit the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter pets and Ten Lives Club. Entries accepted until June 18 (9pm). Buffalo Brewing to Hold Pop-Up at History Museum
Buffalo Brewing is holding a pop-up beer sale at the Buffalo History Museum on May 29 (11am – 1pm). 1862 Cream Ale, which is named after the founding year of the museum, will be available for purchase. Part of the beer sales will be donated to the museum to assist in historic preservation. There will also be exclusive promotions, including a 20% discount on memberships and 20% off museum shop purchases for members. There will be two raffles, one for new members and one for current members, for Pan-American Exposition-themed baskets. Winners will be contacted the week of May 31.
Woodcock Brothers to Release New Summer Flagship, Sky Dancer
Just in time for Memorial Day, Woodcock Brothers Brewing is releasing Sky Dancer, a 4.6% hazy session IPA brewed with Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. “Like a Sky Dancer Woodcock bird flying over a shoreline at dusk, this unique session IPA sings with the bright citrusy flavor of lemon peel, grapefruit and orange zest. Its mild bitterness and easy drinkability make this the perfect beer to enjoy while under a beautiful summer sunset,” the brewery says. Sky Dancer will be available at the brewery and wherever great beer is sold this weekend.
Resurgence, 42 North, Flying Bison to Take Part in Pints in the Park
Resurgence Brewing, 42 North Brewing and Flying Bison will all take part in the Erie County Parks Department Pints in the Park Program, which features pop-up beer gardens across the Erie County Park System throughout the summer and fall. Times and exact locations have yet to be announced. The program kicks off June 5 at Sprague Brook Park. Future locations include Como Lake Park (June 18-20), Ellicott Creek Park (July 9, 13-15), Chestnut Ridge Park (July 10, September 17-19, October 15-17), Isle View Park (July 11), Black Rock Canal Park (July 23) and Emery Park (August 14, 20).
Thin Man Plans Triple Can Release for Memorial Day
On May 28, Thin Man are releasing three new beers, including Sun is Shining Peach/Guava Sour; bright, refreshing and lightly tart with tons of fruit juice character, Tropical Camouflage Hazy IPA with Strata, Motueka & Kohatu hops; notes of lime, orange and grapefruit, and Backwards Mixed Fermentation Saison; complex, highly carbonated and dry with notes of lemon pith, floral yeast and a light tartness. All three will be available at all Thin Man taprooms.
