Buffalo Beer Week, which runs from September 13-22, is a 10-day celebration of the Buffalo-Niagara craft beer scene. The lineup features hundreds of events, including over a dozen featured events, starting with the Buffalo Beer Week Opening Gala on September 13 at Flying Bison Brewing (5-9pm), which will feature live music, food trucks and beer from all of your favorite local breweries. Tickets are $20 and include a complimentary tasting glass. The theme this year is ‘ten years of craft beer.’
26 Shirts’ Dan Gigante says that they were thrilled when they were approached by the BNBA to commemorate this year’s Beer Week with a special shirt.
“When we were approached about doing the shirts commemorating the 10th anniversary for this year’s Buffalo Beer Week we were thrilled as we have been doing more and more shirts for events in the area,: he says. “We just had one stipulation – all of our shirts give back so there would need to be a giving component. But not only were they 100% OK with that – they wanted to make 2 donations for each shirts – one to Habitat for Humanity, whom they donated to last year, and another donation to Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper. Well, we certainly won’t going to say no to that!”
The BNBA and Habitat for Humanity have enjoyed a beneficial working relationship. Recently, the association helped to promote, along with several local breweries, distilleries and bars, the sales of Habitat for Humanity Buffalo’s The House Beer Built tour cards, which featured coupons for free beer, mead and craft cocktails at over two dozen local locations. Proceeds from sales helped to fund the building of a new home on Manitoba Street, which refugee family Manasse Nsabiyuma and Nechode Ndayishimiye and their six children moved into.
“We’re really excited to be working with 26 Shirts for our 10th anniversary t-shirt,” Clint Perez, Ex-Officio BNBA Marketing Co-Chair, adds. “I have known Dan for a long time and have been interested in working with him when the right opportunity arose. When we decided to do the fundraiser for Habitat Buffalo and BN Waterkeeper, 26 Shirts was a natural fit and have been a great partner.”
Local craft beer for a good cause. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Habitat Buffalo’s core mission consists of building homes for families in Buffalo and across Erie County, while the BN Waterkeeper serves as the guardian of Western New York’s fresh water.
