42 North Brewing’s core pilsner, Illumination, will be available in 16oz 4-packs starting this week. The bohemian pilsner has been a part of the brewery’s core offerings since its inception and is being packaged for the first time. The can artwork by local artist Ken Trabert is an ode to Buffalo, NY’s original nickname, “The City Of Light.”
Illumination Pilsner will be available at the brewery taproom, local grocery stores and
independent bottle shops. Illumination has a strong Saaz hop presence in the aroma and flavor. Expect a light, bready and crackery flavor. The Aromatic Malt adds an additional touch of honey and caramel, making the Czech Pilsner lean malty over hoppy. Coming in at 5.9% ABV, this slightly heavier pilsner blends a light, refreshing body with spicy and floral flavors and pairs best with Buffalo’s favorite food… wings.
The label artwork visually tells the story of how Buffalo became the first US city with
extensive electric street lighting due to its proximity to Niagara Falls in 19th century. The
iconic Electric Tower in downtown Buffalo, NY and city street map are both featured on
the 16oz. pilsner label.
