The Nickel Plate, an artisan market featuring more than 120 vendors offering all locally made and produced products, as well as a restaurant and bar, located inside the Niagara Frontier Food Terminal, will hold their grand opening on May 18. The Terminal is located at 1500 Clinton Street in Buffalo.
This weekend, in honor of their official grand opening, the Nickel Plate will offer draft beer and cider specials, $1 off all pints, and every 10th person through the door will receive a free $10 gift card. There will be food samplings, exclusive discounts of gift cards and select products, and more.
Owners Nick Smith and Ty Reynolds, who previously owned Mazurek’s Bakery, are behind the Nickel Plate, which brings Western New York food, drink and culture together in one historic location.
“The Nickel Plate Eatery and Marketplace is excited to bring a new experience to Buffalo, where you can eat, drink and shop all at the same location,” Reynolds says. “Our focus for the business: made, crafted, and designed in Western New York and New York State. We have partnered with over 70 businesses across the state for the bar, along with the more than 110 small businesses in the marketplace.”
They offer 10 rotating taps of all New York State beer, wine, cider, seltzer, and mead from 42 North Brewing, Community Beer Works, 12 Gates Brewing, Belt Line, Big Ditch, Buffalo Brewing, Eli Fish, Clarksburg Cider, Ellicottville Brewing, Flying Bison, Four Mile, Froth, and more. “For the restaurant and bar, we are focused on locally growing produce, our bar offers many options of craft beer, which includes gluten free and non-alcoholic beer, wine, cider and mead,” Reynolds continues. “We have 12 taps which will continually rotate out, so our customers can experiences many parts of the state without having to drive far.”
There is also a cooler that features single cans and bottles that you can enjoy on-site ($2 cracking fee). The current bar draft and can/bottle list, as well as their retail cooler package list is available on their Untappd profile.
And if you get hungry after a few beers, The Nickel Plate has you covered. They offer chicken fingers, wings, tater tots, crunch rolls, fries, wraps, salads, burgers, and sandwiches, and more. There is also a kids menu with grilled cheese, chips, fries and chicken fingers. A full menu can be found here.
