WNY Brewers Guild to Hold Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The third annual WNY Brewers Guild Charity Golf Tournament will take place Aug. 26 at Chestnut Hill Country Club, an annual event that offers golfers and craft beer enthusiasts an opportunity to play a round of golf, as well as local food and beverages, beer samplings, hole challenges, raffles and more. You’ll get a chance to meet the brewers and raise money for local charities. The cost to participate is $120 per person and includes golf, breakfast, lunch, steak dinner and food and drinks on the course. The 4-person scramble tournament will start at 10am with light breakfast and registration at 9am. Register at www.WNYBrewersGuild.com.

Griffon Gastropub Location in Clarence to Close

The Griffon Gastropub has announced that their Clarence location, 5445 Transit Rd. in Williamsville, will close on Aug. 11. They announced on social media that their lease will not be renewed after the recent sale of the building. “Despite our sincere efforts to resolve this issue, we were unable to come to terms and must now seek a new location,” the post read. The Griffon says that they hope to possibly open another location in the area soon. They add that all gift cards will be honored at any of their other locations. “Thank you for your support over the years in Clarence,” the post continues. “We sincerely hope the right opportunity arises for us to return.”

Ellicottville Brewing, St. Bonaventure Launch New IPA

After selling out in two days the first time it was released, Ellicottville Brewing has released a new batch of Bonnies Fan Zone IPA, a new brew made for St. Bonaventure University and their athletics programs. The re-release of the beer features a revamped can with St. Bonaventure’s new athletics logo. Bonnies Fan Zone IPA is available in stores now wherever great craft beer is sold. The beer is also available for purchase at the Ellicottville Brewing Company’s Ellicottville and Bemus Point locations. Bonnies Fan Zone IPA will also be available during campus events at the Rathskeller and Fairway View.

Pressure Drop to Release New Hazy IPA, Problematic Favorite

Pressure Drop Brewing is releasing a brand new hazy IPA, Problematic Favorite IPA, this weekend. The 7% hazy beer is brewed with Citra and Mosaic for notes of citrus, orange and dank hops. Problematic Favorite Hazy IPA will be available in 160z. 4-pack cans and on draft this weekend at Pressure Drop‘s Elmwood Ave. taproom and wherever great craft beer is sold beginning next week.

Five Local Breweries & Meaderies Join Open Bags #6 Collaboration

Four local breweries (Rusty Nickel, Eli Fish, Spotted Octopus, Pressure Drop) and one meadery (Lilly Belle Meads) have joined forces with a number of other breweries and wineries (Stoneyard Brewing, Brindle Haus Brewing, Heritage Hill, Keuka Brewing, Leonard Oakes Estate Winery, McGraw Box Brewing, Nine Maidens, Noble Shepherd, Stumblin’ Monkey, Swiftwater, Willow Rock) on Open Bags #6, a massive collaborative fruited sour brewed with banana, blackberry, grape, lime, mango, papaya, passionfruit, peach, plum, raspberry, rhubarb, soursop, strawberry, tangerine, vanilla, milk sugar, and ice cream powder. You can find the beer on draft and in 16oz. 4-pack cans to go at select breweries and retailers.

Hamburg Brewing Creates Beer for Eden Corn Festival

The 60th annual Eden Corn Festival returns to Eden this weekend, August 1 – 4, and with it comes the return of Hamburg Brewing’s Eden Corn Festival Cream Ale, brewed special for the festival. The beer, a 4.9% cream ale brewed with corn, will be available in the Legion Beer Barn and Beer Tent while supplies last. The festival is located on Route 62 in Eden on the grounds of the American Legion Post #880. A complete schedule of festival events is available online at www.edencornfest.com.
