Big Ditch Brewing Company has partnered with the YMCA for the second consecutive year to release “Turkey Trotter.” a craft beer brewed specifically to celebrate the Buffalo Turkey Trot.

“We are honored to work with the YMCA once again on the official craft beer of the Buffalo Turkey Trot,” said Matt Kahn, president and co-founder of Big Ditch Brewing Company.

Turkey Trotter was the first beer ever brewed specifically to celebrate the long-standing Buffalo Turkey Trot tradition. Described as a “perfect finish line beer,” Turkey Trotter is a refreshing blonde ale featuring crackery malt flavor and light hoppy fruit flavor.

“We brewed this year’s Turkey Trotter to be a bit more citrusy and brighter tasting than last year’s version, but just like last year, a portion of all sales proceeds from this beer will be donated to YMCA Buffalo Niagara to support their efforts to strengthen the WNY community,” added Kahn.

The YMCA Turkey Trot has been a Buffalo tradition since 1896, extending its legacy as the longest consecutively run footrace in the world. “We are incredibly thankful for our partners at Big Ditch Brewing Company for their support, which will help the Y positively transform lives in Western New York,” said John Ehrbar, President and CEO of YMCA Buffalo Niagara.

The 128th annual YMCA Turkey Trot is held on Thanksgiving morning and draws up to 14,000 runners. The 4.97 mile route begins on Delaware Ave in North Buffalo and finishes near the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, where the post-race party is almost as popular as the race itself. Turkey Trotter will be available to drink at this party as well.

Turkey Trotter is now available on draft or to-go in 6-packs of 12oz. cans at Big Ditch Brewing Company’s taproom at 55 East Huron St downtown. The beer will also be available in 6-packs at craft beer retailers and supermarkets throughout Western New York in the coming week. Retail locations include Tops, Wegmans, Dash’s, Consumer’s Beverages and more.

Registration for the YMCA Buffalo Turkey Trot is open and available online at www.ymcaturkeytrot.org. The Turkey Trotter beer cans will also contain a QR code which can be scanned to register for the Turkey Trot race.
