12 Gates Brewing Company in Williamsville has closed their doors after 9 years. The brewery made the announcement via social media.

“After 9+ amazing years, it’s with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of 12 Gates Brewing Company,” a social media post reads. “From the very first brew to the countless pints shared, every moment has been special, and we couldn’t have made it this far without the incredible support of our loyal customers, staff, and the community. You’ve helped us craft more than just beer — you’ve helped us create memories that will last a lifetime.”

“Thank you to each and every one of you for being part of our journey. It’s been an honor to serve you, share in your celebrations, and be a part of your stories. We’ll cherish these years forever. As we close this chapter, we’ll hold on to the good times, and we hope you do too. Cheers to the future and to all the friendships we’ve made along the way.”

12 Gates is a brewery that will always hold a special place in my heart and the collective hearts of the Buffalo Beer League. We were there on day one and we were there on their final day and we’ve drank literally hundreds of 12 Gates beers over the year. From attending countless beer releases at the taproom (their Monsters & Myths and Daze series were simply sublime and here’s hoping another brewery can pick up brewing Pancho’s Legacy Lager), helping brew our favorite 12 Gates beer ever (Mountains of the Moon New England IPA to be exact), drinking long into the night at anniversary parties with Nicole while blasting Type O Negative in the taproom, meeting friends like former brewers Matt Gordon, Scott Shuler and Rob Haag, and list goes on and on. I always loved stopping into the brewery to grab a beer after landing at the airport after getting back into town. I never like to see any brewery close, especially one such as 12 Gates. This one, this one stings.

12 Gates first opened their doors in 2015. Their sister location, 12 Gates of EVL, closed last summer.
