Spotted Octopus Moving to 500 Seneca Street

Spotted Octopus Brewing has announced plans to relocate from 41 Edward Street to 500 Seneca Street, the former Dobutsu and Compass Run. The new location will have more space, a full restaurant, a bigger outdoor patio, and parking. “We are thrilled to be relocating to a larger venue that will allow us to enhance our offerings and create a welcoming environment for everyone,” said Domenic Nicotera, co-owner of Spotted Octopus. “Our customers can look forward to enjoying their favorite brews along with an upgraded dining experience.” The new taproom is expected to open in early August 2026. Before they make the move, the brewery is saying goodbye to their current home and needs help drinking the bar dry on July 3-5.

Big Ditch’s Deep Cut Double IPA Returns

Big Ditch Brewing’s award-winning Double IPA, Deep Cut, will make a return this Friday, June 26. The 8.2% DIPA features dank hops, citrus, orange and tropical fruit. “The final obstacle in constructing the Erie Canal was leveling a 7 mile section of the canal 40 feet deep – by hand – between the Flight of Five in Lockport and Lake Erie. Our Deep Cut Double IPA is equally ambitious. It’s layered with citrus, tropical punch, and wild berry flavor, with moderate bitterness and a dry finish. Hopheads will truly appreciate this 8.2% ABV beer,” Big Ditch says. Deep Cut will be available in cans ($14.90 per 4-packs 16oz. cans) and on draft at both Big Ditch locations (Buffalo, Lockport).

Resurgence Brewing Releases Mojito Ale

Resurgence Brewing is putting a new spin on a classic summer cocktail, the Mojito, blending cucumber and mint for a light-bodied and easy-drinking beer, Mojito Ale. “Perfect for relaxing sunny days and vibrant patio nights alike, this cocktail-inspired ale is a unique new summer drink you won’t want to miss!” the brewery says of the new beer. Mojito Ale is on tap and available in cans at Resurgence’s Chicago Street taproom now.

Erie County Fair Homebrew, Cider Winners Announced

The Home Brew and Hard Cider Best of Show winners of the Erie County Fair Home Brew and Cider competitions have been selected. For the second straight year, the Best in Show Cider comes from Chuck Privitera of Eden. Privitera also won for Most Creative Cider at this year’s competition. It will be produced by Blackbird Cider Works. The Best in Show Beer comes from West Seneca’s James Krell for his Red IPA. It will be brewed and released by Hamburg Brewing. Both the winning beer and cider will be available on draft throughout the fair, as well as in cans at Hamburg Brewing and BlackBird Cider Works. Stay tuned for more details.

Southern Tier Rolls Out New Beers For NHL Draft

With the 2026 NHL Draft coming to town this weekend, just steps from Southern Tier Brewing Buffalo, the brewery is rolling out a pair of new hockey-themed beers – Pineapple Powerplay, a tart 4.5% tropical fruit sour with notes of pineapple and citrus, and River Hockey Light Lager, a 4.2% American light lager that’s crisp, clean, smooth and refreshing. Both beers can be found at the brewery on tap. The NHL Draft takes place June 26-27 at KeyBank Center.

Wayland Brewing Lancaster to Hold Special Preview

If you have been patiently waiting for Wayland Brewing to open its new Lancaster location inside the former Lilly Belle Meads, this weekend is your chance. The brewery is hosting a special sneak peek at the outside of the space on June 26 (4-10 pm) and June 27 (1-11 pm) with can pours available from Wayland and food from Buffalo Burger Bros. The event is free and open to the public. Lilly Belle Mead vacated the space last year after partnering with Rusty Nickel Brewing. The 2,400 sq. ft. space will operate as a traditional taproom with 16 taps and a food menu similar to Buffalo Bros’ location in the Village of Hamburg with smashburgers, chicken sandwiches and more.

Resurgence at Canalside and Buffalo Waterfront are officially kicking off the 2026 summer season with a full weekend of waterfront programming on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, featuring live music, family activities, local vendors, community organizations, food and drinks, and entertainment for all ages.

The weekend celebration begins with the Resurgence at Canalside Kickoff event on Saturday, June 6, 12-7 pm, followed by the first Sunday Social at Canalside of the season on Sunday, June 7, 10 am to 4 pm.

Together, the two events are designed to celebrate the return of summer at Buffalo’s waterfront while highlighting local businesses, nonprofits, artists, attractions, and family-friendly experiences.

“We’re excited to kick off another summer season at Canalside and create a weekend that feels welcoming, fun, and uniquely Buffalo,” said Madeline Mulholland, community engagement manager at Resurgence Brewing Co. “From live music and local vendors to family activities and waterfront attractions, these events are all about bringing the community together and celebrating everything that makes Buffalo summers special.”

Saturday, June 6: Canalside Kickoff Event

Saturday’s kickoff event will feature live performances from Buffalo musicians Grace Lougen, 12-3 pm and Nico Zarcone, 4-7 pm.

Food and beverage offerings will include ice cream from Charlap’s Ice Cream, and food, beer, cider, canned cocktails, and more from Resurgence at Canalside.

Family-friendly activities will include:

This event also marks the beginning of Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper’s “Waterkeeper Week” series. Throughout the day, they’ll be on site with a variety of interactive activities, including a trivia wheel with prizes, a Canalside scavenger hunt, and a water safety demonstration. They’ll also share information about their mission and volunteer opportunities, along with offering branded Silipints and dry bags for sale.

Resurgence at Canalside will also be partnering with Explore & More Children’s Museum for a special promotion during the event. Guests who show a Resurgence at Canalside receipt at the museum will receive $3 off admission and 10% off in the gift shop. Wines in the Wild Returns to the Buffalo Zoo

Wines in the Wild returns to the Buffalo Zoo on June 18 (5-8 pm). The special event features beverage and food sampling from local wineries, cideries, meaderies and breweries, as well as live music, special appearances from the Zoo’s animal ambassadors and more, all spread throughout the grounds of the Buffalo Zoo. Funds raised from Wines in the Wild will go directly to supporting the Buffalo Zoo’s mission of creating connections and saving wildlife. Ticketing information will be announced in the coming weeks. Maifest Returns to Spring Garden Park in East Aurora

Maifest returns May 24 (12 pm) to Spring Garden Park, located at 3838 Two Rod Road in East Aurora, will feature a specially brewed Maibock, a German lager that is paler and more hop-centric than traditional bock beers, from Buffalo Brewing Company. There will be a keg tapping ceremony at 1:15 pm, a special guest appearance by The Caledonian Pipe Band and SGTV Edelweiss Dancers, and live music from The Beer Fest Boys at 2 pm. Resurgence Brewing 2026 Pints in the Park Schedule

Resurgence Brewing is bringing back Pints in the Park for the 2026 season beginning on Saturday, May 30. This free event series features pop-up beer gardens in parks around Western New York with Resurgence’s mobile beer trailer serving beer, cider, seltzer, and more, food trucks, live music, lawn games, vendors, and family-friendly activities. 42 North Brewing Brings Back Wallonia Wit

One of 42 North Brewing’s classic brews, Wallonia Wit, is back at the brewery. The return of the 5.4% Belgian Wit features a new twist featuring New York State ingredients, pilsner malt, wheat, and NYS Vista hops. “Our brewery customers have requested we bring this back for years and with the growing trend of lower AVB, but still flavorful, beers, it was time to return back to our roots,” 42 North owner John Cimperman said. Wallonia Wit is available at 42 North taprooms on draft, as well as in cans wherever great craft beer is sold.

Rusty Nickel to Officially Open Beer Garden May 20

One of the true jewels of the Western New York craft beer scene can be found out back behind Rusty Nickel Brewing in West Seneca. The brewery has put a lot of effort into upgrading their backyard over the years, making it a great place to enjoy a pint. You can experience the space for yourself beginning on May 20 (6-9 pm), when the beer garden opens for the season. Rusty Nickel will have seasonal brews and cocktails, yard games such as cornhole, and fire pits and s’mores to enjoy. In the event of severe weather, a rain date will be announced. Big Ditch Brewing Drops New Rice Lager

Big Ditch Brewing has released a new limited release Yuzu Rice Lager. This beer, originally brewed as a pilot batch for the brewery’s 9th anniversary party, is brewed with rice for a light body and ultra-crisp finish with a vibrant lift from the addition of yuzu, which adds bright citrus character and subtle white grape notes. Yuzu Rice Lager is available on tap at both Big Ditch taprooms.

Resurgence Brewing is bringing back Pints in the Park for another season of roving beer garden experiences across Western New York, launching Saturday, May 30.

This free event series returns with fresh pours, local food, live music, and laid-back summer fun in some of the region’s favorite parks.

Now a seasonal tradition, Pints in the Park transforms local parks into pop-up destinations featuring Resurgence’s mobile beer trailer serving beer, cider, seltzer, and more, alongside rotating food trucks, local musicians, lawn games, vendors, and family-friendly activities.

Built around good drinks, good company, and great scenery, the series offers an easy way to spend a summer afternoon, whether you’re meeting friends, bringing the family, or checking out a new park. Each stop offers its own unique mix of local partners and entertainment, making every event a little different.

“Pints in the Park has become one of our favorite ways to connect with people during the summer,” said Jeff Ware, president of Resurgence Brewing. “It brings together so many things people love about Western New York in a really welcoming, casual setting. Catholic Charities of Buffalo is hosting its third Hops for HOPE, a celebration of the work of the agency and a call to support Appeal 2026, at Resurgence Brewing. This year’s event is a weekend celebration that kicks off on Thursday, May 14 and runs through Saturday, May 16.

The partnership with Resurgence Brewing is intended to raise awareness of the programs and services offered by Catholic Charities, recognize volunteers and supporters, and promote Appeal 2026 which ends on June 30.

“Catholic Charities touches the lives of nearly one in every ten Western New Yorkers through dozens of crucial programs that meet people where they are and provide HOPE for a better tomorrow,” said Tony DeSimone, president & CEO, Catholic Charities. “As we enter the final weeks of Appeal 2026, we are encouraging the community to give their support to ensure HOPE continues for our neighbors in need.”

The Hops for HOPE beer is a special rebranding of Resurgence Brewing’s popular Lil’Mo. A truly unique brew, the Mosaic-hopped session IPA begins with dank aromatics laced with citrus fruit. Six-packs of Hops for HOPE will be available for sale beginning May 14 only available for a limited time in the tasting room at Resurgence with portion of the proceeds from each can and six-pack will benefit Appeal 2026 in support of Catholic Charities and the Fund for the Faith.

Dude Hates Cancer Homebrew Competition Set for August

The 12th annual The Dude’s Homebrew Competition, which raises money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, will take place Aug.9 at Resurgence Brewing, where homebrewers will serve samples of dozens of homebrews to attendees, who will then vote for their favorite beer, which will be judged by a panel of local brewers. The winning beer will be brewed at Resurgence Brewing.

5th Annual Fundraiser for Summit Center at Brazen Brewing

The 5th annual fundraiser for The Summit Center will take place on Saturday, April 11 (12 pm) at Brazen Brewing. The event will help to raise money for autism awareness. In honor of the event, WNY Beer Trail has partnered with Brazen on Breakaway Kölsch, which will be on tap and in 4-packs to go, with a portion of the sales going to The Summit Center. In addition to the beer release, there will be basket raffles, a silent auction and prizes, including autographed Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres jerseys, signed pucks and baskets from Tim Hortons, Sunmed CBD, Resurgence Brewing, Brazen, Wingnutz and more. Tap That Tap Room To Close At End of May

Tap That Tap Room is closing at the end of May, but, as they say, they are not going out quietly. They will be hosting a Tap Room Funeral, or as they call it, “one wild weekend to say goodbye,” May 29-31. There will be an “open casket viewing,” a Book of Regrets guest book to share your favorite memories of Tap That, beer specials, the coffin cooler and more. Black attire is encouraged, but not required. “It is with mild emotional confusion and very full kegs that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved taproom,” Tap That said. “Come raise a glass, say your goodbyes, and help give this place the sendoff it deserves.” Tap That Tap Room opened in April 2023 in Tonawanda at 363 Delaware Ave.

New York State Craft Beer Day at Eli Fish Brewing

In honor of New York Craft Beer Day on April 11, a day to celebrate and honor New York’s more than 500 independent craft breweries, which support 22,000 jobs and generate a $4.8 billion economic impact, Eli Fish Brewing wants you to drink everything on their draft board, literally. All day, they will be offering $6 flights (with an upcharge for barrel-aged beers) and the $40 24-beer massive flight (two people minimum, no substitutions). Resurgence Brewing will host a grand opening weekend of its Fort Myers taproom, beginning Friday, April 17.

After a soft opening in early March, Resurgence is ready to celebrate in full force with a fun-packed opening weekend featuring live music, special programming, and its complete food and beverage offerings.

The weekend kicks off Friday morning with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 am, attended by local dignitaries, community partners, and members of the media. Immediately following the ceremony, invited guests will be welcomed to a private reception to toast the occasion.

The public festivities continue throughout Friday afternoon. Guests will be treated to live acoustic music and the opportunity to chat with Resurgence’s own brewers about the craft behind their beer inside the brewhouse. Friday evening will also feature live music.

Saturday brings a family-focused atmosphere, with daytime programming designed for guests of all ages. Activities will be offered throughout the day, as well as continued sampling and live music. Additional programming details will be announced in the coming days.

The grand opening weekend also marks the debut of Resurgence’s full food and beverage menu, a milestone the team has been working toward since the taproom’s soft opening. Hofbrauhaus Royal Export Barrel Tapping With Buffalo Beer League

Hofbrauhaus is tapping their Royal Export Lager on Thursday, April 2 (6 pm) with the help of the Buffalo Beer League, who will serve as the honorary Burgermeisters. There will be a traditional parade, barrel tapping with members of the Buffalo Beer League and The Sabrehood, as well as live music from Die Haus Band. There will also be a $20.26 Game Day Buffet and Buffalo Sabres puck drop at 7 pm, followed by a viewing party at the brewery of the game against the Ottawa Senators. Royal Export is a golden lager with fruity hop notes and a light bitterness. Reservations are not required, but are recommended.

7 WNY Breweries Win 10 Medals At 2026 NYS Craft Beer Competition

It was a banner year for Western New York breweries at the 2026 New York State Craft Beer Competition. New York Beer Project and Eli Fish Brewing led the way with three and two medals each, respectively. NYBP won gold for Hazy Train (Hazy IPA) and silver for Righteous Day Drinker (Hazy DIPA) and Hazy Crush (Experimental IPA). Eli Fish grabbed gold for The Red Ale (Strong Ales & Lagers) and a silver for Tiga Spon (Experimental). Rusty Nickel Brewing won gold for Pumpernickel Porter (Porters – Non-Imperial), Resurgence Brewing won silver for Bridge Pilsner (American Lager), Pearl Street Grill & Brewery won silver for Mangia, Mangia! Italian Pilsner (Light Lager – Modern and Contemporary), Brickyard Brewing won silver for Magnetic North (Belgian Farmhouse) and Griffon Brewing grabbed bronze for Oregon High Five (Pale Ale).

Resurgence Brewing Expands Citmo Family of Beers

Resurgence Brewing’s flagship hazy IPA, Citmo, is welcoming some new family members – Super Citmo, Lil Mo and Citmo Charged. Super Citmo is an 8.5% New England-style Double IPA that features notes of citrus, tropical fruit and stone fruit, Lil Mo is a 4.3% Mosaic hopped session IPA that features an earthly crispness, tropical fruit flavors and subtle bitterness and Citmo Charged is a 9% hazy imperial IPA that features bright flavors and aromas of fresh citrus, fruit salad and sweet malt. Super Citmo (16oz. cans, 4-packs), Lil Mo (12oz. cans, 6-packs) and Citmo Charged (19.2oz. cans) can be found at Resurgence’s taproom and wherever great craft beer is sold.
